About Charlie Larkin

I’ve been a member of the LP for about a decade. I’m presently running for State Auditor in Massachusetts. I’m a past Chairman of ULMA, and have served as Secretary for ULMA and the now-disbanded LP of Worcester County,

I have an M.Ed., a paralegal certificate, and some graduate-level business study. I have experience teaching high school, working in real estate, income tax preparation, retail, and working with the disabled. Presently, I work for several services providing third-party inspection for various customers in automotive, real estate, insurance, maintenance and finance, as well as an occasional private consumer.

Outside of the LP, I’m a very active member of the Masonic Fraternity, and belong to several antique auto-related clubs, specifically, the Buick Club of America and its Central New England Chapter, the Walter P. Chrysler Club (the largest Chrysler products club), and the Antique Automobile Club of America, and the Bean Pot Region. I also belong to North Quabbin Cruisers, the local club in North Central Massachusetts, and presently serve as Secretary.

I’ve decided to run for Judicial Committee to bring a voice of reason. I like to make sure all sides are heard, good questions are asked, and a full understanding of the situation is achieved.

What has your activism in the Libertarian Party been like?

I was on the board for LAMA before it went to the Liberal Party, on the board for ULMA as Secretary and Chairman, Secretary for LP of Worcester County before disbanding, and have volunteered with the Fishman, Jorgensen, Mapstead and Oliver campaigns. I've run for School Committee and am running for State Auditor. I was briefly Chairman of ULMA.

What is your opinion of the conclusions of the Judicial Committee in that case?

The Massachusetts case from 2022 was a mess on both sides. Looking back, it helped formed the takeover, and, at least in our case, had LAMA not been in a hurry to punish anyone not left-libertarian, and target Mises members, I sincerely question if our split would have happened.

Given the circumstances with the illegal expulsion of myself and others, the right decision was ultimately reached, but it helped contribute to a terrible price the Party as a whole, has had to pay.

Is there anything else that would make you a good member of the Judicial Committee?

Having been involved with a case personally from the 202-'22 Massachusetts debacle, I saw what happens when a giant mess with no good answer happens.

I think the Committee needs to commit to listening and learning as much as possible, and be able to engage in thoughtful deliberations, ask questions of both sides and members of the Committee, and work diligently to make sure fiduciary responsibilities are protected, along with the rights of both sides protected.

The Judicial Committee must act fairly and thoughtfully, and it is my intention to foster such behavior.
