About Jake Porter

I have been supporting the Libertarian since 2004 when I was 16 years old.  I am a three time candidate for statewide office in Iowa.

Iowa Secretary of State-2010, 2014

Iowa Governor-2018

During the 2008-2010 term, I served on the Libertarian National Committee as an Alternate to region 6.

From 2020-2022, I served as Governor Reynold’s appointee to the 5 person Iowa Health Facilities Council (Certificate of Need Board).

Today, I reside in Arkansas and am responsible for exposing the Freedom Calls LLC controversy in the Libertarian Party last year.

Are you a dues paying, or life, member of the Libertarian Party?

Sustaining Member

What has your activism in the Libertarian Party been like?

I have taken some breaks in between, but my activism has ranged from gathering signatures, running for office, serving on boards, training candidates, doing hundreds of media interviews, writing op-eds, and even exposing corruption within the Libertarian Party.

Choose any case that the Judicial Committee has heard in the history of the Libertarian Party, most of which can be found here:  LPedia.

What is your opinion of the conclusions of the Judicial Committee in that case?

To Declare Invalid the LNC Action Purporting to Void the Region 1 Election of May 10, 2025 and to Clarify the Interpretation of Sustaining Membership Status, Rights, and Regional Autonomy (Martin vs. LNC)

The Judicial Committee had no business ruling on this.  There was no relief to give as Mr. Wiley has left his position long before the appeal.  The appeal should have been considered moot.

Is there anything else that would make you a good member of the Judicial Committee?

I have the courage to do what I believe is right and am not afraid of criticism.  I will not base decisions on faction, caucus lines, or personality disagreements.
